Transport, Festive Activities and Excursions

Getting there

Dijon is a lovely small city situated some 200 kilometres south east of Paris .It can be reached easily by the TGV Express train which takes 90 minutes from Paris, Charles De Gaulle airport, and from the city of Lyon.

Air France, our official transportation partner, will be giving Exhibitors and Congress Registrants a discount on fares of from 30 to 50% on normal flight (and freight) tariffs. The Air France code number for this agreement is: AXZE30977 (to be given to your travel agent)

The 18th WOC will have a Hospitality Centre at Paris, Charles De Gaulle airport to help Congress Registrants make the appropriate connections.

We will also hire special direct buses from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to your hotel in Dijon on March 8, 9 &10. If you are interested,

Excursions

These excursions will be organized by our Social Committee and Bourgogne Tours. The latter have considerable experience in these matters and will be responsible for making reservations. Visits to Chateau and vineyards, for which the Bourgogne district is famous, are planned during the Conference.
Several trips up to five days have been organised for the weeks following the Conference.
Here are a few of the themes proposed:
- Discovering wild orchids and beautiful gardens in South of France
- The Aalsmeer flower auctions and the famous Keukenhof in Holland cruising on the canals.
- Paris, Versailles and private - professional French Orchid collections.
-Discovering the Mont Saint Michel on the road to Eric Young Foundation, Jersey.

The Preview Evening and Gala Dinner

A prestigious Preview Evening will take place to celebrate the opening of the World Orchid Conference on March 10. A Gala Dinner at the end of the Conference, on Monday March 14, will be held in the famous vaulted cellars of the Chateau du Clos de Vougeot (picture above), situated between Dijon and Beaune, and the home of the internationally famous gourmet organisation, the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. Congress Registrants will long remember the glory of this World Orchid Conference, and we plan to be a hard act to follow.
